Supporting university learning through guided questions, active thinking and AI-assisted tutoring.
Socratic is a web application developed in cooperation with the AGATE Centre to support university teaching and independent study. The app follows a Socratic approach: students attempt problems and discuss their thinking with a tutor that offers focused questions and hints. Students can revisit concepts and follow their progress across a course.
Socratic’s aim is to make guided practice more accessible between classes while keeping students’ reasoning and teachers’ judgement central to the learning process. Its ongoing development explores how conversational AI can contribute to thoughtful, active engagement with university course material.
