Duel 2026: Is Human Communication Algorithmic?
April 27, 2026

Two perspectives, one fundamental question:

Is human communication something uniquely human, or can it be understood — and perhaps even replicated — as a process that machines can perform?

Olga Lomová (sinologist):
NO — “No, because a human being is not a machine.”

Lenka Zdeborová (physicist and AI researcher):
YES — “We can now realize it beyond the human.”

The debate was organized by Martin Loebl on behalf of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, in cooperation with Agate Centre at Charles University.

A video recording of the event is available online.
